The Project Manager will be responsible for leading and delivering complex projects within a local government setting. The role involves end-to-end project management, ensuring compliance with public sector regulations, managing stakeholder engagement, and delivering outcomes that support community objectives and policy goals. This position requires strong knowledge of municipal processes, budgeting, procurement, and community engagement.
Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of public sector projects on time, within budget, and in accordance with council policies and statutory requirements.
Coordinate with internal departments, elected officials, contractors, consultants, and community stakeholders.
Prepare project scopes, business cases, and funding applications aligned with local government objectives.
Monitor project progress, manage risks, and ensure quality assurance throughout the project lifecycle.
Administer contracts, manage procurement processes, and oversee compliance with public sector procurement policies.
Prepare and present project reports, updates, and recommendations to senior management and council.
Ensure community engagement and consultation is appropriately planned and delivered.
Manage project budgets, monitor expenditures, and ensure cost-effective delivery.
Oversee post-project evaluation and reporting, ensuring learnings are captured and documented.

Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Public Administration, Urban Planning, Engineering, or related field.

5–8 years of project management experience, preferably in a local or regional government environment.
Strong understanding of government procurement, contract management, and budgeting processes.
Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams and manage external vendors.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, particularly in a public context.
Ability to interpret and apply legislation, policies, and regulations relevant to local government operations.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
Proficiency in project management tools and software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or similar).
